The Lemon Show

This group show, organized by greyegg, was hosted at The Hairy Lemon in Alphabet City.

The timing of it felt fortuitous. This show took place on a date that was right past when I had a plan for where to live or what to do with myself. A friend was also set to come to town around that time, and I decided I needed to stay.

For this show, I created a Ukrainian pysanka-style lemon, an early experiment with neon Molotow acrylic paint markers and a bold, pointillistic painting style. These forms would keep me occupied for quite some time thereafter.

Looking back, the role that lemons played in keeping me in the city was a harbinger of things to come—very good foreshadowing. If I had it to do over again, though, I would have kept the lemon.
